Rest in winter
For those who want to move outdoors,
but also for those who simply want
to discover the beauty of nature in winter.
Pejo Valley is beautiful in summer and even more beautiful in winter. It is precisely in the cold season, indeed, that comes alive with many activities dedicated to those who love sports but also to those looking for just a little relaxation. At a short distance from Casa ai Laresi you can find facilities, itineraries and routes designed for every age and for every type of athletic training. Here are some ideas.
Skiing and snowboarding
If you practice skiing or snowboarding, Pejo Valley is the right place for you. This valley is part of the largest ski area in the western Trentino region, which includes the areas of Peio, Folgarida Marilleva – connected with Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo – and Passo Tonale. Here you will find the highest mountains in the central and eastern Alps belonging to the Ortles-Cevedale mountain group. Snowfalls are generally abundant, but the planned snowmaking systems ensure coverage of 95% of the slopes.
Cross country skiing
Cross-country skiers can enjoy the over 5 kilometers of slopes of the “Biancaneve” cross-country center, right at the foot of the Ortles-Cevedale mountain range, within the Stelvio National Park. The slopes are in Cogolo, a 3-minute drive or 15-minute walk from Casa ai Laresi. Nearby you will also find a ski school with specialized instructors and shops for the sale and rental of skis. A skibus service also connects Cogolo to the main ski resort stations.
The sloping peaks and the snowy valleys of Pajo Valley are the ideal place to practice ski mountaineering. Cima Forzellina, Monte Cevedale, Monte Vioz, Palon de la Mare and Punta San Matteo are home to the most suitable itineraries for this type of activity. Choose the one that suits your skills and, before embarking on an excursion, be informed about the weather and snow conditions. You can also contact the alpine guides of Val di Sole, always available to organize expeditions in total safety.
Snowshoes and walks
If you do not like the noise and the commotion of the ski slopes, there are other ways to discover the mountain in winter. For example, with the traditional snowshoes, perfect for walking in the silence of the woods of Pejo Valley in search of traces of creatures that move on the immaculate mantle in search of food. You can autonomously follow the routes traced after being informed on the weather conditions and on the practicality of the itinerary, or choose the organized excursions.
Not just skiing
Skiing, snowboarding, ski touring and snowshoeing. But there is also much to do in Pejo Valley in winter. For example, you can have an excursion in the snow on a horse-drawn sleigh: a romantic experience for a couple or a fairytale adventure to do with your family! Or do you love walking and the cold does not scare you? Nordic walking is a gentle activity that tones the muscles, does not fatigue the joints and safeguards the correct posture of the body. In Pejo Valley there are 5 nordic walking itineraries. While if you like to soar lightly on the ice, in Cogolo you can try your hand at skating.
